PINEHURST, N. Scarpe Adidas Nmd Uomo Italia .C. -- Bubba Watson has one thing going for him: So far, nobody else has a better chance at winning a second major this year. "Ive already got one," he quipped Tuesday. The two-time Masters champion came to Pinehurst this week for the U.S. Open hoping to become the first player since Tiger Woods in 2002 to win the years first two majors. "Any time you have that chance, its been a good year, because that means youve done well early," Watson said. The worlds third-ranked player is trying to join that short list of players to win both the Masters and U.S. Open in the same year. Its only happened six times and before Woods, nobody had done it since Jack Nicklaus in 1972. Watson is certainly hoping this attempt goes better than the last one. Two years ago at The Olympic Club in San Francisco, he missed the cut after shooting an 8-over-par 78 in his opening round. Through the years, the U.S. Open has provided a particularly vexing test for Watson, who has missed the cut in three of his seven Opens. His only top-10 finish came in 2007 when he tied for fifth at Oakmont -- perhaps the toughest of the courses that have staged golfs national championship. "A U.S. Open brings out challenges that were not used to, challenges that we can only take once a year or we would all find new jobs if we had to do it every week," Watson said. And a different set of them awaits this week at the revamped Pinehurst No. 2 course that looks nothing like it did when Payne Stewart (1999) and Michael Campbell (2005) won Opens here. Watson it called "a second-shot golf course" and said it bears no resemblance to the Augusta National course hes twice conquered "except its 18 holes, thats about it." The multi-million-dollar restoration to Donald Ross original design, removed the rough and left only two cuts of grass -- fairway and green. Birdies figure to once again be rare at the U.S. Open, where bogeys arent necessarily bad and the winner is often the one who takes the smartest shots and makes the fewest mistakes. Hell find out over the next few days if his daring "Bubba golf" style will work on a course that has only two par-5s. Watson leads all PGA Tour players with an average driving distance of 314 yards -- a distinct advantage at the various courses on the tour. But maybe not at Pinehurst No. 2, where sandy hardpan, wiregrass and weeds make up what used to be the rough. "Its all about the tee shots. Im going to try to lay farther back than normal, because its still iffy hitting in that -- I dont know what they call it, rough, dirt, sand. ... But its going to be iffy. You dont know what kind of lies youre going to get." Get through that and out of the fairways, and those notoriously tricky turtleback greens -- which a smiling Watson repeatedly called "unfriendly" -- await. The "U.S. Open is challenging you at all levels. If you want to be a man and hit driver off that tee, you can," he said. "If you want to lay back and try to play smarter, you can. ... You have the ability to do it, now can you do it at that moment, is what the key is. "So I think the U.S. Open is doing that, its just thats what theyre trying to create," he added. "Theyre trying to create a challenge for everybody, and you can play it aggressively or you can play it smartly." Nmd Human Race Italia . On the day after Billy Horschel posted his 12th straight round in the 60s, won his second straight tournament against a world-class field and picked up an additional $10 million bonus as the FedEx Cup champion, Watson was kicking back in his seat at a Kansas City Royals game. Villar connected off Joe Saunders (11-14), sending a drive well over the left-field fence for his first career homer. The Astros scored six times in the first three innings to chase Saunders.BEREA, Ohio -- Browns quarterback Brandon Weedens injured right thumb will not require surgery, and he could be back on the field sooner than expected. Assuming, that is, coach Rob Chudzinski decides to put him out there. Weeden visited a hand specialist on Thursday and was told there no further damage and that he doesnt need an operation. Chudzinski said it was "highly unlikely" Weeden will need surgery and that his status will be re-evaluated next week. "As soon as hes cleared well have to evaluate what status he is, whether hes 100 per cent or 80 or 90," he said Friday. "Well play it by ear as it goes." Weeden was not available for comment. As practice wrapped up inside the teams indoor field house, Weeden, wearing a black immobilizing brace on his right hand, shagged footballs as quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Jason Campbell took turns trying to hit the goal posts crossbar from 50 yards. Weeden injured his thumb in the fourth quarter of last weeks 14-6 loss at Baltimore. He smashed his thumb on the helmet of left guard John Greco while throwing a pass and had to leave the game for treatment and X-rays. Campbell played the Browns final offensive series as they dropped to 0-2. On Wednesday, Chudzinski surprisingly named Hoyer, who had been listed as Clevelands No. 3 quarterback since the start of training camp, as his starter for Sundays game against the Minnesota Vikings. Chudzinski said he picked Hoyer over Campbell because "where were at offensively now, the things that the does well fits what we need." Chudzinski then added that Weedens starting job was not guaranteed when he returned, yet another startling development later trumped by the Browns trading star running back Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts for a first-round draft pick next year. Weeden seemed stunned to learn his job wouldnt be waitingg for him when he got back, and the second-year QB tried to downplay the significance of Chudzinskis comments. Adidas Nmd Sconti. "I dont worry about that stuff," he said. Chudzinski said Friday that he has spoken to Weeden about the situation and the 29-year-old understands the situation. Chudzinski said even if Weeden returns earlier than expected, it would have no bearing on which quarterback plays. "Well, not really," Chudzinski said. "Were just going to take it week by week and see where hes at and where were at. Hes played two games, Id love to see more of him." Weeden has completed 47 of 86 passes for 516 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions. He has never gotten the full support from Clevelands new regime, which may have shown its intent to draft a quarterback in the first round next year by dealing Richardson for a future pick. The Browns will have 10 selections next year, enough ammunition to move up in the draft if needed. ---- NOTES: Former Browns president Mike Holmgren criticized the teams decision to deal Richardson. In a radio interview, Holmgren said he would quit as coach if his team traded its best offensive player. "Philosophically, if I am the coach and someone came in anywhere and did that, Id say OK, fire me, or Im going to quit. Or were going to both go into the owner and talk about this and then well see whos still standing." Current Browns CEO Joe Banner fired back at Holmgren. "Mikes entitled to his opinion," Banner said in a radio interview. "He ran the team for three years and was able to do what he believed in. Its our turn trying to do what we think is right. Obviously we wouldnt have done this if we agreed with his comments." ... RB Willis McGahee, signed this week, will play Sunday when the Browns meet the Vikings, Chudzinski confirmed Friday. ' ' '
