INDIANAPOLIS -- The orange and brown glasses slide down the bridge of Jacques Villeneuves nose. Nike Vapormax Plus Levne . Along with the greying hair and growing bald spot, they give the Canadian driver a professorial vibe. Its only reinforced when he begins to speak. In clear, crisp sentences spiced by that unmistakable French-Canadian accent, Villeneuve lays out his opinion on just about anything -- especially when it comes to the Indy 500. He will talk about the latest generation of cars, lament the fact there is only one chassis manufacturer, and argue that spotters who are supposed to make the race safer have often had the opposite effect. Then hell talk about the speed and the danger. "Some younger drivers didnt grow up seeing racing as being dangerous," said Villeneuve, who is back at the Indianapolis 500 after a 19-year absence. "They break their little finger and they are surprised. Its like, Be happy its only that." Of course, Villeneuve forgets many of those younger drivers grew up watching him. James Hinchcliffe, a fellow Canadian, said his earliest memory of watching a race was 1995, when Villeneuve took advantage of a late penalty on Scott Goodyear to win the Indy 500. That was also the last time Villeneuve stepped into an Indy car at the iconic racetrack. At least, it was until this year. "Its cool to have him back," Hinchcliffe said, "because hes obviously one of the guys I looked up to as a young driver, and one of the guys I never thought Id have a chance to race." Villeneuve spent nearly two decades driving just about everything but an IndyCar. He won a Formula One title, tried his hand at NASCAR and drove at Le Mans. He dabbled in RallyCross and even raced V8 Supercars around the street circuits of Australia. But the lure of Indy started to tug him back. Villeneuve, who will start 27th on Sunday, watched with rapt attention last year as Tony Kanaan took the checkered flag. He was intrigued by the record number of lead changes, the way cars moved through the field and how stiff the competition had become. Villeneuve managed to land a ride with team owners Sam Schmidt and Rick Peterson, and will be part of a stable that includes Mikhail Aleshin and Simon Pagenaud on Sunday. "If I jumped from F-1 to this again, it wouldnt be an issue," Villeneuve said of the return to open-wheel racing, "but the first 20 laps, your eyes, your brain -- its not used to those speeds, so it is a big shock. You have to get out, breath again, and then get back in and its like, All right. Business as usual." His team may be an underfunded underdog, at least compared to heavyweights Penske, Ganassi and Andretti Autosport, and he may have struggled Friday in the final practice on Carb Day. But none of that will convince Villeneuve that he doesnt have a chance to win. "When I won here we were two laps down and we spent the whole race minding our own business," he said. "Thats the key: You should mind your own business. Figure out what is happening with everyone else at the end. You need a little bit of luck, and then you need to see how it pans out. I just hope Im not one of those people who does something stupid." Pagenaud was surprised to see his new teammate prepare for the race the moment he arrived in Indianapolis. Qualifying was almost an afterthought as Villeneuve gazed ahead to Sunday. "It actually makes me wonder why he focused so much on the race," Pagenaud said with a wry grin. "Im sure hell come up with something in the race and Ill learn then." If he does come up with something, Villeneuve could make history. The 43-year-old would break Al Unsers record of 17 years between victories that has stood since 1987. Even if he doesnt win, though, a good showing could prove invaluable. Villeneuve has dropped hints that he may be try to run the IndyCar series full-time next year, and that would turn the Indy 500 into quite an audition. "I had an opportunity to spend half an hour with Jacques in the garage area a week ago," said Goodyear, now an analyst for ABC. "Through all the questions I was asking him, catching up with him, I asked him, Why come back to something that youve won, have great memories with? "He said, Racing is my oxygen. I need to race something." Vapormax Off White Fake . Torres scored the first goal by an English team in the knockout phase of the Champions League this season when he met Cezar Azpilicuetas cutback in the ninth minute of their first leg match in the last 16. But Chelsea failed to make the most of its counterattacks and the Turkish champions equalized in the second half after gaining in confidence and cutting out their defensive mistakes. Tribute Tweets #Padres Tony Gwynn had 287 career plate appearances against #Braves trio of Maddux, Glavine, & Smoltz, he hit .DETROIT -- Jason Kipnis sprinted around the bases after hitting each of his two homers, forgetting how it felt to trot after hitting the ball well enough to clear the fences. Kipnis hit a tiebreaking, three-run homer and added a solo shot in the ninth to help the Cleveland Indians beat the Detroit Tigers 9-3 on Friday night. He began the game without a home run since April 21. "I havent even done it (in) BP I feel like for two months," Kipnis said. After Kipnis tiebreaking homer, Asdrubal Cabrera sent the next pitch over the right-field fence to cap a seven-run seventh inning that helped Cleveland come back from a 3-0 deficit in the opener of a four-game series against the AL Central-leading Tigers. Cleveland has scored 61 runs this season in the seventh inning, producing more than it has in any other inning. "As long as we score before we have to go home," Indians manager Terry Francona said. Trevor Bauer (4-4) gave up three runs on six hits over six innings. "He kept us in the game," Francona said. Detroits Anibal Sanchez (6-4) retired the first seven batters he faced and had a 3-0 lead. He ended up giving up four runs, six hits, walking one and striking out seven in an uneven performance. "I think he just got tired, actually," Tigers manager Brad Ausmus said. "I dont know if it was the time off or whatever reason, it just looked to me like he got tired. The ball got up in the zone. He was real crisp up until that point. It was almost like he hit a wall." The Tigers won 17 of 23 games going into the All-Star break. Cleveland has won seven of its last 10 games to move a game over .500, pulling into a second-place tie with Kansas City, trailing the Tigers by 6 1/2 games. "Weve had guys struggling in the first half, its been a surprise, but I dont think anybodys mad about being at .500 in the first half," Kipnis said. "And if you have a great second half, I dont think anybodys going to be too mad about how we did in the first half, so thats what were concentrating on." The Indians chased Sanchez in the seventh when Nick Swishher hit a bases-loaded, two-run single with no outs. Vapormax Plus Dámské. "He gives you some pitches to hit, but not many, and guys did a good job of being patient," Kipnis said. Al Alburquerque later entered the inning with two runners in scoring position and was working his way out of the jam with two strikeouts. He had a 1-2 count against Kipnis, whose fourth homer of the season gave Cleveland a 6-3 lead. Indians reliever Scott Atchison got Austin Jackson to hit into an inning-ending double play in the seventh. After both starters pitched two perfect innings, the Indians had a hit in the third and the Tigers had two and scored a run in the home half. Detroit loaded the bases with one out and Bauer got out of the jam, allowing one run on Ian Kinslers sacrifice fly and getting Miguel Cabrera to hit an inning-ending fly. Torii Hunter hit an RBI double in the fourth, stole third and scored on catcher Yan Gomes throwing error, giving the Tigers a 3-0 lead. They potentially could have scored another run in the inning, but J.D. Martinez was thrown out at home trying to score from first base on Hunters double. The Tigers had designated hitter Victor Martinez in the lineup for the first time since July 4. He had been out with a strained lower right side, an ailment that led to him missing the All-Star game. NOTES: Francona, a week after LeBron James announced he was coming home, was asked if he has bought Cavaliers tickets. "Im in the process of it. There seems to be a little bit more of a waiting list now," he said. ... Indians CF Michael Brantley had four hits, matching a career high that he last tied earlier this year against Detroit. ...
