Last Tuesday, April 8th, marked the 40th anniversary of Hank Aaron setting the all-time home run record, passing the Babe with 715 career home runs. Leonardo Spinazzola Juventus Jersey . Aaron would eventually close out his career with 755 home runs, taking his place on the throne as baseballs home run king. When Aaron hit a 1-0 fastball that night, he not only powered his way into the annals of baseball history, but onto the pages of American history, as well. An African-American player held what was, at the time, the most prodigious record in all of North-American sports. Aarons incredible milestone was a large step in the fight for racial equality in baseball, and across America, but it was a step that may not have occurred if it were not for # 42, Jackie Robinson. Twenty-Seven years prior to Aarons record breaking home run, Jackie Robinson stepped onto Ebbets Field, becoming the first African-American to play in the Major Leagues since the 1880s. April 15th, 1947 was undoubtedly a day of celebration for many across North America, but it also marked the beginning of a long, arduous journey for Robinson. Robinson endured through 10 seasons of racial abuse, unjust criticism, as well as threats on his life, from spectators, other players and even teammates. While professional athletes are often expected to perform under the pressures of a fanbases high expectations, Robinson carried a much heavier weight than the average ballplayer, an entire race of people depended upon him. In his first few seasons, Robinson knew if retaliated against his aggressors, he would risk delaying the breaking of the colour barrier. Instead, Robinson responded with his play on the field, showcasing his five-tool talent on his way to becoming one of the greatest second baseman that ever lived. For the past 10 seasons, April 15th has been a day where Major League Baseball pays tribute to the legacy of Jackie Robinson. Today, every Major League player will pay homage to Robinson by dawning his iconic #42, unifying under one number. To celebrate the 10th-annual Jackie Robinson Day, BarDown presents to you, three songs written in tribute for three of the most iconic African-American baseball players in history: Willie Mays, Hank Aaron and, of course, Jackie Robinson."Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball?" - Buddy Johnson"There is not an American free in this country until everyone of us is free." - Jackie Robinson"Say Hey (The Willie Mays Song)" - The Treniers"To make it into the majors and to take all the name calling, he had to be something special. He had to take all this for years, not just for Jackie Robinson, but for the nation." - Willie Mays"715" - Peter Cooper"As Ive said many times, and Ill say it again, Jackie Robinson was a pillar of strength to me." - Hank Aaron Giorgio Chiellini Jersey .The Williams siblings, with 25 Grand Slam titles between them, will have a couple of Madisons joining them, too.Madison Keys had a 6-4, 7-5 upset win over two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova on Saturday night, and Madison Brengle beat Coco Vandeweghe 6-3, 6-2 in an all-U. Rodrigo Bentancur Jersey . No such luck. Wiggins owned the end of Parkers impressive homecoming. LOUIS -- Known for his game-managing and defensive skills, Yadier Molina made another statement with his bat. BALTIMORE -- Bud Norris set his sights on the first complete game of his career until a blister on his pitching hand forced him to exit the game. The right-hander, nonetheless, still managed his most dominant performance this season. Norris pitched eight innings of three-hit ball and Adam Jones hit one of the Baltimore Orioles three home runs in a 4-0 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Monday night. Nick Markakis and Ryan Flaherty also connected for the Orioles. Norris (5-5) struck out six and walked three while matching the longest outing of his career. Coming in, he had given up four or more runs in four of his past five starts. The blister is not expected to affect Norris next outing, but Orioles manager Buck Showalter did not want to take any chances. "Its an awkward spot for me, but Ive got to take care of it the next couple days and I know how to maintain it and so forth," Norris said. So I think it was a precautionary reason. I understand hes the skipper and hes going to make decisions, Im OK with that." Boston has lost six of its past seven games after a season-high seven game winning streak. The Red Sox have been shut out five times this season. Jones had three hits, including his 150th career homer. Markakis extended his hitting streak to 14 games with two hits. "I feel good up there, but the outcome aint going to be there sometimes," Markakis said. "Im seeing the ball well and putting good swings on it. Kind of trying not to change anything. Stick with your same approach, stick with whats working." Boston right-hander Jake Peavy (1-4) allowed four runs and eight hits with seven strikeouts and one walk over seven innings. Peavy has given up three or more runs in seven consecutive starts and hasnt won since April 25 against Toronto. "Take a few pitches back and its a different game," Peavy said. "I dont care about my personal win-loss record. I dont care about any personal numbers at this point. Im pitching to win. I was pitching to win tonight. But we were grinding. Thats a really good lineup." After allowing a leadoff single to Brock Holt in the first, Norris retired 13 consecutive batters. Daniel Nava managed Bostons second hit with a two-out double in the fifth. "Ass well as Norris was pitching, he stayed out of the middle of the plate and had very good stuff, one run was going to be the difference the way this one turned out," Boston manager John Farrell said. Daniele Rugani Juventus Jersey. "We couldnt put too much together in any one inning." Jones gave the Orioles a lead in the first with his 10th homer. "Im trying to use the whole field," Jones said. "Im trying to not limit myself to just pulling the ball. Thats how I get in trouble. Just trying to use the whole field. If its in, try to pull it. If its away, try to stay on it. Not rocket science, but some sort of science." Baltimore then increased the lead to 3-0 that same inning when Markakis hit a two-run shot off Peavy onto the flag court. Flahertys solo shot in the seventh provided further cushion. Tommy Hunter, who came off the disabled list Sunday, threw a scoreless ninth. The Orioles improved to 24-9 when scoring four or more runs. Orioles starters have often failed to get deep into games this season. Both Chris Tillman and Ubaldo Jimenez failed to get through the third inning over the past four days. Showalter said arms were available in the bullpen, he lauded Norris for going deep into the game. "Bud was really good," Showalter said. "Id have probably given him a chance to finish that game." NOTES: Showalter said he expects to hear by Tuesday if Manny Machado will be suspended for throwing his bat Sunday against Oakland, igniting a benches-clearing confrontation. Machado apologized for the incident on the team-owned television network. ... Baltimore recalled RHP Josh Stinson from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned RHP Brad Brach to the minor league club. To make room for Stinson on the 40-man roster, LHP Johan Santana was transferred to the 60-day DL. ...
